Songwriting & Composition Lessons: Turn Your Ideas Into Music

Dave began playing ukulele in 3rd grade, and added guitar, bass guitar, banjo, autoharp, clarinet, vibraphone, and conga drums through his school years. He taught guitar to high school friends, and gave private lessons as a music education major at Adams State College (now University). He also plays mandolin, stand-up bass, various percussion instruments, piano, and sings baritone. 

He wrote his first song in high school. He composed orchestral, big band, and choir pieces in college. With more than 200 pieces completed, he continues creating new works, averaging about one release every 10 days. He also writes and directs stage plays and musicals that have been produced across North America and the U.K. After college, he produced an LP of his songs titled "All I Want to Say". The album received airplay on college radio stations, and is now considered vintage vinyl, being reviewed, replayed, and resold online. 

He performs with Brew Glass, his band of more than a decade, and as Davy Banjo at local senior living and care facilities.

Matt Kniffin is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music teacher who studied at Berklee College of Music and has spent years helping students of all ages find their footing on their instrument. He teaches piano, guitar, bass, and drums, shaping each lesson around what the student actually wants to play and where they want to go.

Makenna Flint is a musician from Pennsylvania who moved to Denver two years ago. She is a Fine Arts public school teacher as well as a private piano, voice, percussion, and music production teacher. Makenna attended Liberty University where she studied music education, piano performance, and elementary education. While she teaches many instruments, piano is her primary instrument, and she has been playing for 15 years.

Annie Shaw is a Denver based songwriter, guitarist, and multi instrumentalist who decided music was her calling at age three and has not slowed down since. She has toured extensively, released records, and scored film with her own work spanning folk, rock, psych, and shoegaze. She has shared stages with Against Me!, Laura Marling, and Hurray for the Riff Raff, and continues to write, record, and perform in Denver and beyond.

Sarah Hight is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, educator, and performer whose love for music has guided her life since early childhood. Her primary instruments are violin and trumpet, with equal experience playing guitar and singing. Growing up in Rapid City, South Dakota, she honed her musicianship in a thriving music program. Sarah was a student apprentice with the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra for four seasons and earned top placements in All-State ensembles on both violin and trumpet, finishing her high school career as the top trumpet player in the state.

Bella is a Denver-based multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, composer, audio engineer, and producer currently studying at the Lamont School of Music, where she majors in Audio Engineering and minors in Studio Art. With experience in piano, bass, and voice, she brings a well-rounded and creative approach to music education that encourages both technical growth and artistic expression.

Yugs is a Denver based indie alternative artist, producer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist with nearly a decade of experience making and teaching music. He has headlined the Hi-Dive, Skylark Lounge, and Lost Lake, and recently completed LAAMP (Los Angeles Academy for Artists & Music Production), where he studied under production duo Stargate (known for their work with Rihanna and Beyoncé) and worked alongside songwriters across indie rock, pop, R&B, Latin, hip-hop, and folk.
